Consultancy for studios, cameras, lighting and sound

tickerzi

Five areas of advice for television networks and live event producers, from the first floor plan to the signal flow on the night of the show.

What we offer

Five areas of broadcast and live event advice

tickerzi advises on how a production space is planned, equipped and operated. Our work covers studio layout, camera control, lighting, audio chains and live workflows. Each area can be taken alone or combined, depending on where your team needs a second opinion.

  1. Broadcast Studio Design

Layout and planning advice for television studios, from floor plans to cable routing and control room placement.

  2. Camera Control Systems

Guidance on selecting, configuring and integrating camera control and shading setups for multi-camera productions.

  3. Lighting Design for Broadcast

Lighting plans for studios and live events that balance look, colour consistency and operating practicality.

  4. Sound Engineering Consultancy

Advice on audio chains, mixing consoles and monitoring for broadcast studios and live event productions.

  5. Live Event Workflow Planning

Production workflow reviews covering signal flow, communications and crew roles for live television and events.

Tell us what you already have in place and what is not working. We will then agree the scope with you in writing before any work begins.

Decision guide

Studio design or workflow planning: which fits

Both approaches reduce friction for a crew, but they start from different places. This comparison helps you decide whether the physical space or the way people use it needs attention first.

Broadcast Studio Design

Starting point
The room: floor plan, cable routes and control room position
Typical client
Networks building, refitting or relocating a studio
What you receive
Layout advice and planning notes for the space
Who we speak to
Facilities managers and technical directors
When it is most useful
Before building work or equipment is committed

Live Event Workflow Planning

Starting point
The production: signal flow, communications and crew roles
Typical client
Producers running live television or event shows
What you receive
A written review of how the show runs and where it strains
Who we speak to
Producers, directors and heads of crew
When it is most useful
Before a new show, or after a difficult one

Many projects need both. If you are unsure which comes first, describe the problem in a short message and we will suggest an order.

In detail

Lighting Design for Broadcast

This service suits studio operators and event producers who need a lighting plan that looks right on camera and is practical to run. Priya Nair leads it, working from your space, your cameras and the programmes you make.

Lighting Design for Broadcast
Survey of the space and the cameras
We start with the room, the rig position, the power available and the cameras in use. Knowing the sensors and lenses involved shapes every later decision about fixtures and levels.
Lighting plan and fixture choices
You receive a plan showing where fixtures sit, what they do and how they are controlled. Choices weigh the look you want against rigging effort, heat and the time crews have to set up.
Colour consistency across cameras
Matching colour between cameras and between fixture types is planned in, so shading is not asked to fix what the lighting created. We note where mixed sources may cause trouble.
Operating practicality
A plan has to be workable at three in the morning. We consider focusing, access, spare capacity and how a small crew would reset the rig between formats.

Floor plans, camera models, current fixture lists and a few frames from recent programmes are the most useful things to send us beforehand.

Questions about our services

These are the questions producers and facilities managers ask us most often. If yours is not covered, the contact page is the quickest way to reach us.

Do you supply or sell equipment?

No. tickerzi is a consultancy, so our advice is not tied to any product or supplier. We help you specify what you need and compare options on their merits. Purchasing stays with you or your chosen integrator, and we can review quotations if you wish.

Can we hire you for just one area, such as sound?

Yes. Each of the five services stands alone. Some clients start with a single review, for example an audio chain, and add other areas later. Others ask for several together because the problems are linked. We agree the scope in writing first.

Do you work with live events as well as studios?

Yes. Lighting, sound and workflow advice applies to both. Live events add pressure on set-up time, communications and crew roles, so we look closely at those. Studio projects tend to focus more on layout, cabling and long-term operation.

Will you visit our site?

Where the work depends on a physical space, a visit is usually the best way to begin. We look at the room, the equipment and how your crew works in it. Some reviews can be done from drawings and documents, which we will tell you at the outset.

What should we send before a first conversation?

A short description of the problem and the programmes involved is enough to begin. Floor plans, equipment lists, signal diagrams and crew structures help if you have them. None of it needs to be polished. We would rather see the working documents as they are.

How do you charge for advice?

Our prices page sets out what each service costs, what is included and what changes the figure. After an enquiry we send a written quotation. Once you confirm it, we invoice and you pay by bank transfer.

Do you write a report at the end?

Yes. Each engagement ends with written findings and recommendations that your team can act on and share internally. They are specific to your space and workflow, with priorities marked so you can decide what to tackle first.

Can you work alongside our own engineers?

Yes, and we prefer it. Your engineers know the equipment and the habits of the house. We bring a fresh view and experience from other productions. Recommendations are written so your team can carry them out or brief a contractor.

Talk through your production needs

Send an enquiry through the contact page and we will reply with questions about your project, then a written quotation once the scope is clear.
